Tiger Cub
Tiger Cub Groups should meet on average 4 times a month:
2 - Group meetings per month to work on an "Achievement" or "Elective"
1 - Outing a month in support of an "Achievement"
1 - Pack meeting per month
Group Meetings: Tiger Cubs BSA operates using the concept of shared leadership. Each boy - adult partner team assumes the responsibility of hosting one or more group gatherings, usually an entire month of activities works best. Using the Tiger book, the den meetings are planned in advance by who ever is in charge of the meeting for that month. Through this sharing of leadership, each boy/adult partner team is given an opportunity to lead. The Den Leader will act as the overall Den organizer and contact person who will make sure the Den is operating efficiently and who will relay information from the Pack and Boy Scout Council to each member of their Tiger Cub Den.
Outings: It is suggested that the parent or guardian of each boy in a Tiger Group take on the responsibility of running at least 1 outing during the year. The Tiger rank book has lots of great ideas for outings and your Den leader may also hear of a great outing at the monthly leaders meeting. If you and your Tiger Group find another fun filled possibility please share this with us so we can update our other leaders! Tigers are limited for the most part to day time outings and can not "camp out" or do over night activities except as part of "Family Pack Camping" activities held during the year.
Advancement: Tiger Cubs should do the 5th "Achievement" which requires an outdoor activity as early in the year as possible to take advantage of the warm weather. The other "Achievements" your Groups does can be done in any order but should be completed by March so that the Tigers can advance. As a group you should try to do at least 7-8 additional "Electives" throughout the Scouting year. If you would like help running your first meeting or have any questions around the Tiger Cub program please contact our Cubmaster who will be more than willing to help you out. We will hold an advancement ceremony for these boys during the June Pack meeting, at which time the boys should also have completed thier Bobcat rank requirements. The June Pack meetings is also our "Year end picnic" held at Round Valley Youth Center in Clinton Township and is one event you will not want to miss!
Pack Meetings: Tiger Cubs are new to the Pack and have a lot to learn. The most important item initially is paying attention to the Cubmaster at all times during the Pack meeting. When the "Signs Up" is given they should be quite and do as they are instructed. As the year progresses Tigers will be included in more and more of our Pack meeting activities as we prepare them for becoming Cub Scouts.
