Bobcat
This is the first "Rank" that the boys earn upon entering Cub Scouts. For boys that join us in September we would like them to earn this rank by our October meeting at which time will have a Bobcat advancement ceremony. All boys new to Cub Scouting should earn this their Bobcat including all Wolf Scouts and all new Bear and Webelos Scouts.
To earn the Bobcat rank only takes about 1 hour of family time for parents to read "How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide" included in every Cub Scout Handbook and then review this with their children on, another hour or so learning the Cub Scout Promise, Law of the Pack and the meaning of Webelos again with a parents help and 1 Den meeting to work on the Cub Scout sign, handshake and making sure the boys know the Cub Scout Promise, Motto and the Law of the Pack.
This badge lays the foundation for all future badges and awards. It is important that the boys really know and understand all 6 of the Bobcat requirements and that that special attention is paid to requirement 6.

1. Learn and say the Cub Scout Promise.
2. Say the Law of the Pack . Tell what it means.
