Destroying Worn-Out Flags
When the national flag is worn beyond repair, burn it thoroughly and completely on a modest, but blazing, fire.
This should be done in a simple manner with dignity and respect. Be sure the flag is reduced to ashes unrecognizable as a former flag.
Pack 901 will retire flags at our June Picnic. If you have a flag you would like us to retire please fold it and place it in a tied plastic bag and give it to Mr. Nick at any Pack Meeting during the year or bring it to our June Picnic.
If you see a flag that is flying that should be retired please bring it to the attention of the person flying it in a nice way and offer to retire the flag for them. Note that many people have been flying flags on their cars since 9/11 and many of these flags should be retired and replaced with new ones. Flag day is held every June 14th and is a perfect time to remind people to retire their old flags and fly a new flag with pride.
